This brief required this character weatherboard cottage to be retained & restored whilst delivering a contrasting contemporary extension to the rear of the property. This included a new pool, 2 living spaces, kitchen, butler’s pantry, cellar, powder room and a vast outdoor entertaining area. The architecture of the original cottage was respected with the large cornice & skirting board detail retained, whilst the new extension offers clean lines & modern finishes.
A crisp aqua lap pool lays front & centre of the rear living areas, with extensive high glass walls overlooking the garden & distant trees. The use of traditional stone walling and oak contrast beautifully with black joinery, grey terrazzo, carrara marble & white mosaics making for a striking palette. Layered with bespoke furniture, original artwork, contemporary rugs & lighting have resulted in a sophisticated warm & friendly home.
